LEARNING ROUTINES

Rosebud Secondary College is committed to the implementation of best practice and research informed approaches to create an orderly, predictable and positive learning environment for all learners.

The Classroom Mastery routines and strategies are designed to support a reduced cognitive load for all learners, and a culture of unconditional positive regard for staff and students alike. Classroom Mastery has been developed by leading classroom management expert, Dr. Tim McDonald. 

At Rosebud Secondary College we have implemented Classroom Mastery to support our learning culture by;

  • creating consistently productive, safe and calm learning environments 
  • improving student wellbeing and creating the classrooms they need with belonging, mastery, generosity and responsibility 
  • increase safety of classrooms and schools by proactively reducing disruptive behaviours 
  • improving student learning outcomes through increased engagement 
  • apply evidence from the Science of Learning and the insights of cognitive load theory.
