Last Tuesday 17 May, Rosebud SC again hosted the History Council of Victoria’s History Roadshow. Our students were joined by teachers and students from Dromana SC and Mornington SC to participate in a series of lectures and workshops conducted by visiting academics from Melbourne Universities. Margaret Birtley from the History Council of Victoria introduced the day by chairing a Q & A with the visiting academics as the panel. This session was aimed at students in Years 9-12 and investigated Career Pathways for History graduates. Professor Joe Siracusa (RMIT University) provided two lectures to Year 11 students about the impact of the Cold War on Australia and the world. Anthony Bidgood (Monash University) worked with Year 12 Revolutions students to enhance their studies of the Russian Civil War and War Communism. Geraldine Carrodus (Educational Consultant) worked with Year 12 Australian History students and focussed on the way in which Federation/Nationhood and World War 1 affected the development of Australia as a nation.
Hosting the Roadshow really enriched the learning experiences of our History students and expanded their understanding of where their studies might take them in the future.
